Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I have my Septic Tank Pumped?

There are several variables, depending on the system type, number of occupants and the age of the tank. For the average family of 4 we recommend at least every 2-3 years. Proper maintenance not only helps the life expectancy of your system but can also help prevent issues in the future.

What should I not put down my drain?

It is always good to be conscientious of what you put down your drain. You should never pour grease or oil, wet wipes (even if it says flushable), coffee grounds, feminine products, toilet wand scrubbers, cat litter and household chemicals such as paint or pesticides. You should never use a garbage disposal if you have a septic system.

Can I pump my system from the vent pipe instead of having to dig up my lid?

We always recommend pumping through the lid, never the vent. When we pump through the lid, we are able to properly clean the whole tank. If we are using just the vent, only the liquid would be removed, leaving most of the dirt behind, causing build ups.
